App Shortcuts

Start or check a shift with less searching

Work often starts in the middle of something else: a call ends, a delivery arrives, a client opens the door, or a break finishes sooner than expected.

HoursKit App Shortcuts give you a direct route into common actions and answers, so you can clock in, manage an active shift, check its status, or ask about today’s hours without hunting through screens.

What you can do with HoursKit

Use HoursKit App Shortcuts to clock in, manage a shift, or ask for shift status and today’s hours on iPhone.

Clock in with the job in mind

Use an App Shortcut to open HoursKit directly into the clock-in flow when a shift begins. It is particularly helpful for people who move between jobs or locations and want a faster starting point.

You still choose the work you are recording, which keeps the shift connected to the job and pay rules that apply to it.

Manage the shift already in progress

Pause, resume, and clock-out shortcuts help you get back to the action that fits the current moment. After a break, you can return to the right flow without navigating from the app’s home screen.

At the end of the shift, the entry is ready for the same edits, pay estimate, and reporting options as any other tracked shift.

Ask about shift status or today’s hours

HoursKit App Shortcuts can answer status questions as well as start actions. Ask whether a shift is running or ask how many hours you have logged today when you need an answer in the flow of the day.

These intents make Siri and Apple’s shortcut surfaces a practical route to information that would otherwise take a few taps to find.

Choose a shortcut for action or an answer

App Shortcuts can act on a shift or answer a direct question about it. Widgets and Live Activities serve a different role: they are glanceable, live views of the day on the iPhone surfaces already in front of you.

Each route stays connected to the same HoursKit entries, giving you a quick command, answer, or visual status check without fragmenting the day’s tracking.
